Requirements for Certification
While the requirements for certification may vary slightly, an overview of each agency’s respective requirements has been provided below:
Department of Veterans Affairs Center for Veterans Enterprise (CVE):
This certification is valid for a period of 3 years.
- The Veteran owner(s) must have direct, unconditional ownership of at least 51% of the company and have full decision-making authority;
- The Veteran must manage the company on both strategic policy and day-to-day basis;
- The Veteran must hold the highest officer position;
- The Veteran should be the highest compensated employee;
- The Veteran should have managerial experience of the extent and complexity needed to manage the company;
Central Management Services (CMS):
This full certification is valid for a period of 5 years. An annual no-change affidavit is required.
- The business must be at least 51% owned, operated, and managed by one or more qualified veterans;
- The business owners must maintain a residence in Illinois;
- Applicant(s) must have valid DD214 showing an honorable discharge;
- The business must have annual gross sales less than $75 million;
- The business must maintain a home office in Illinois;
Cook County, IL:
This full certification is valid for a period of 3 years. An annual no-change affidavit is required.
- The business must be at least 51% owned, operated, and managed by one or more qualified veterans;
- The business owners must maintain a residence in Illinois;
- Applicant(s) must have valid DD214 showing an honorable discharge;
- The business must have annual gross sales less than $75 million;
- The business must maintain a home office in Illinois;
In order to qualify for certification assistance, candidates must have a valid DD-214 and must meet all criteria for the selected program. Midwest Business Consulting is not affiliated with any government agency and reserves the right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason. Assistance is limited to 6 hours per firm.
