Matthew Marich
Aviation Facilities, Maintenance and Operations
Mr. Marich brings more than 24 years of experience in airport maintenance and facilities management and more than 40 years of trades experience to the team. Prior to joining MBC, Mr. Marich served as the Director of Facilities and Maintenance for Midway Airport (“MDW”) for 12 years and as a union electrician for more than 20 years. Mr. Marich played a key role in the design, construction, acceptance and mobilization of the new terminal concourse and parking facilities at MDW from 1996 to 2005. He was responsible for developing the corrective and preventive maintenance ticketing programs, creating staffing and operating budgets, and directly oversaw the development and day-to-day utilization of MDW’s CMMS.
During his 12 year tenure as Director of Facilities and Maintenance at MDW, Mr. Marich was a proactive advocate of cross-industry benchmarking and implementing vendor KPI’s to improve facility management practices, researching and promoting the use of new technologies and developing and implementing various labor saving initiatives.
Mr. Marich specializes in electrical contracting, facilities and maintenance management, construction and airport operations. He has in-depth experience and strengths in all facets of electricity, PLC control systems, plumbing, reading schematics and blueprints, project management and maintenance operations management.
Mr. Marich holds certifications as an electrician in the City of Chicago and AAAE Airfield Certified Electrician. He also has certificates in a number of technical disciplines, including: HVAC / Boilers, Telecommunications, Fire Alarm Systems and Fiber Optics.
Experience:
Project Consultant, Midwest Business Consulting – Mr. Marich recently joined MBC in 2015 as a Project Consultant to oversee various construction, operational and maintenance related projects for aviation and industrial-application clients. Mr. Marich will support the development of optimized operating plans, assessment of equipment and facilities maintenance operations and implementation of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Additionally, Mr. Marich will support project research in related disciplines, as necessary.
Director of Facilities and Maintenance, MDW (City of Chicago, Department of Aviation) – In 2000 Mr. Marich was promoted to serve as the Director of Facilities and Maintenance for Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW). In this role, Mr. Marich was responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the facility which included managing all facility operations, overseeing vendors to operate and maintain the airport, as well as directing lean maintenance and upkeep of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting, IT and communications systems. He was also responsible for creating and managing operating and capital budgets, and managing various Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) for both airport facilities and the airfield.
Electrician, MDW (IBEW Local 134) – Mr. Marich began his career in aviation in 1988, serving as a facility electrician at Chicago Midway International Airport for more than 12 years. In this position, he functioned as the duty electrician, maintained airfield wiring and system components, oversaw the upkeep of airport electrical systems and components and installed electrical wiring and components as necessary.
Supervisory Electrician, Classic Electrical Construction Corp. – From 1978 to 1988, Mr. Marich served as a supervisory electrician where he oversaw various electrical installations and maintenance teams, provided project estimates and managed numerous construction activities and budgets.
